Question from our distributor:
My customer want to know about Ms.Acces database because they want to use Oracle above 8i version and only want to use open source database(e.g MySQL or Oracle – I think until now ODBC still not support for MySQL) but they still want to consider on Ms.Access database. Can you help us to give us information about Plus and Minus point using Ms.Access? We want to inform this to our customer.

Please note that, you cannot use ODBC connections as the main Dv TDM database. We do not support MySQL either.

The only supported databases, for which you can create and use Dv TDM databases are:

MS Access - although we do not recommend this as a deployment solution and is more suitable to testing and demos.
MS SQL Server (2000 or above)
Oracle (9i or above)
Interbase/FireBird (IB6 or FB1.5)

I would suggest using MS SQL Server Express 2005 Sp2, Oracle XE or FireBird 1.5 as these are the only reasonable databases and are all free.

If we get enough clients requesting support for open source databases we may consider adding support for these in the future.

We have had two large prospects inquire about MySQL lately.

They easily decided to use MSSQL after we informed them that MySQL is not supported.

If another database were to be supported in the future, I would recommend supporting MySQL.
